Mark has often joked that ‘Cook Something New’ ought to have been ‘Cook Something’ but it’s a touch unfair. I make food hot three or four times a week, possibly five. That’s how I describe my cooking. I make food hot.
Today, I made a white sauce. It was for a lasagne. Both are simple to anyone who cooks regularly but for me, it was an achievement as me and cooking are not au fait. We are so unacquainted that I’ve never even roasted a chicken properly. I just chuck it in the slow cooker and hope for the best.
Butter, flour and milk. What could go wrong? Actually nothing. Just as I was losing faith, it thickened up and became a sauce, like magic, and it meant there was no need for the store bought jar I had just in case!
The lasagne was delicious and maybe next time, I’ll make my own pasta sheets.
