Twenty years on, I still remember the one that started my love affair with bags. It was from Barratts shoes and was a bowling ball bag style, black leather number with a supremely stylish white inlaid stripe down the middle. Very classy! I was heartbroken when the zip finally gave up.
Many bags later, I’ve been coveting a Gucci bag for some time and I’ve spent nothing on clothes for a year to pay for it.
The nearest Gucci to me is an hour and a half away in Manchester but Bicester Village is only half an hour more so with Mark behind the wheel, off we went.
Traffic was not kind and a motorway closure turned two hours into three plus and then all car parks at Bicester Village were full and closed. It was nearly half two, the busiest part of the day, so we chose to carry on, find food and return later.
Finding food was more cruel than the traffic! We were turned away from three places; one of which had only one server who was taking care of ‘Four tables and he’d be overwhelmed’.
We returned to Bicester Village around half four and found what seemed like the last spot! Of course we couldn’t get into Gucci and had to join the virtual queue but it only took fifteen minutes to receive a text permitting entry.
It was very busy inside and I saw a bag I loved but I wanted it in mini size; I’ve been using a mini bag for over a year now and I like it.
As we were looking around, the assistant who I’d asked about the bag found us with the perfect mini bag in hand. A blue leather super mini with a long chain strap! He demonstrated the strap combinations and imparted to me that it was a 2022 design. I’d seen it on the website and I was sold as this was two hundred and sixty pounds cheaper! Unbelievable!
It was quite a day but while we were in the virtual queue, we even found Mark a pair of jeans with 36” legs. Smiles all round! Or not as the photos show!
